I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right place. Sorry if not.
I have been having a no fat Shape yoghurt and Quaker Oats so Simple porridge with a sprinkling of Splenda on it for most of the winter so far (In summer I switch to Weetabix).
Tested myself mid morning to see the reading was 11.
Am I eating the wrong stuff?
I am having some real problems with my diabetes lately and seriously need to get on track.
Weetabix and Quaker Oats are pretty carb-tastic. Yoghurt can be quite high carb too - especially low-fat yoghurt, which makes up for the fat with added carbs.
Lots of people are more sensitive to carbohydrates in the morning, so it isn't surprising that your BG was so high.
I also have the Oat so simple porridge ( the type that you add milk to) My blood sugar doesn't spike as most days I go for a walk or do my housework afterwards.
Customer helplines that use recorded menus that promise to put me through to the right person but never do - and being ill. Oh, and did I mention customer helplines :)
That would depend entirely on your pre breakfast/fasting reading and how long after your breakfast that reading was and what activity you had been up to prior to the reading. Without more information it is hard to make a comment...
People who think they are always right and ram their opinions down your throat. No-one knows everything. Those who shout loudest are usually the ones who actually know the least.
I would avoid the Shape youghurt. They reformulated it a few months back and added the sugar back in! I now buy Irish yoghurts Diet yoghurt which is about the only one with no sugar added. I assume you read the labels on everything you buy; it's enlightening to see how high the carbs can be. My wife makes up our own 'muesli' from plain porridge oats with lots of different seeds added and some no sugar-added fruit pieces. I also have a nice fry-up some days e.g. egg and bacon which have quite low carbs. Don't take too much notice of early morning BS readings as overnight glucose dumps by the liver can affect the results. I normally do any readings 2 hours after the main evening meal.
