What do you guys eat for breakfast?

I'm looking for some new ideas, getting bored of marmite on toast!

I'm new here, not a lot of experience with my type 2. My breakfast is usually rushed, trying to get the kids fed, out the door and myself on the road.

I've been stocking the fridge with a few hard boiled eggs. Grab two, with a slice of ham and it's out the door. When I have a bit more time, I take a medium nonstick frypan, butter it up a bit, with a very low setting on the burner. Beat up a couple eggs, small slice of cheese floating on top, like a strip down the centre, cover up everything with a whole wheat wrap then put the pan lid on. Jump in the shower, and 10 mins later I come down stairs, turn the pan upside down on the cutting board, and roll the wrap up and enjoy. Add a little salsa on the side, or add a slice of luncheon cold cut meat when cooking to mix things up. Other things I've added.... Bell peppers, onions, broccoli (finely chopped), left over bacon crumbled..... Sky's the limit

A few times during the week I make a green smoothie. Milk, Greek plain yogurt, peanut butter, and spinach. Add frozen banana or straw berries and blend on high. Yummy! Only really taste the peanut butter. (google 'green monster smoothie' - for ratios and quantities. As a baseline)

I think it is wheat, but interestingly their web site does not say on the special K page.
Sadly it has gluten in but plain Cornflakes with raspberries or blueberries are good for breakfast & middle of the night when I cant sleep!

I generally have 1 slice of toast (19g carbs) but when cycling to work 2 shredded wheat with 250 ml semi skimmed milk ( total carbs 42g). Love Rice Krispies but BG varies with the weather 2 hours later, and I live in The Lakes. Try and find something that works for you consistently - porridge is a good idea but more so in the winter.

this is too difficult

I have eggs and bacon. I am diabetic so avoid carbs.

Ok the extra fruit and rice and shine may be a problem.
What are the fruits and what is rice and shine?

Fruits I tend to add are Peaches, Strawberries, Black Berries, Watermelon, Mango, what ever fresh fruit I can get on the cheap (or in winter time frozen) don't use much use enough to add a but of extra nutrition plus sweetness. Fruit isn't a no no for diabetics, but you do need to pair it with the right proteins and fibers to help with the carb load (that's why I put them into the smoothie, the shake itself is only 2 grams of carbs add the fruit in and it comes out at about 15 to 30 grams total which means I get my serving of protein (at 15 grams) , minimum of 6 grams of fibre, 90% of my daily needed intake of calcium, 80% of my daily intake of iron and 100% of vitamin C for the day.

Rice and shine is like oatmeal its aimed at the Celiac community (those how can't have gluten which can include oats). its made from nutty tasting brown rice which contains fiber, vitamins and minerals, I know for several diabetic's its not a good option but for other's it works just fine depends on what your carb to insulin ratio is.

Sorry mate but most of that is bad. Not sure where you got the information. A doctor or nurse perhaps?
Many fruits are a definite no.

Where all different and fruit is not off the menu for many diabetics in general, maybe for you it is but for many of us its not. Dieticians around the world agree that its good (even the UK diabetic association agrees its good) in general many type 1's eat fruit we just take an extra unit of insulin to cover what we eat.

The GL of berries is very low which means you can eat a lot.

How about starting your day with a smoothie? Try this one: In a blender, mix one cup each of fresh or frozen strawberries and Almond milk adding around 1-3 ounce of Greek yogurt (your brand with 1g sat fat, 12grms card 100 cal.) Puree until it’s thick and smooth. Enjoy!

Hello all breakfast lovers, I have been just having toast, but not good with bs, so had scrambled eggs yesterday and today had boiled eggs on toast, white bread. Both these were really filling and bs levels seem ok. I feel better for having a protein start to the day.
The special K has a lot of sugar in it, I have been told, cannot eat it, tastes like cardboard to me, although I have eaten crunchy nut cornflakes with skimmed milk, and they have not raised my bs levels to much if at all.
I love omelette but it has to have ham and cheese with it, and it looks enormous on the plate, but like all things moderation is needed. I also love yoghurt and will eat it any time of the day or night, it is a cool, tasty and filling, the live ones are my favourite, activia is good for the intestines as the little bacteria work wonders for the stomach.
My other fav is from yorkshire, longley farm these are really different and you feel they are very active in bacteria, they have some excellent flavours, 3 ingrediants live yoghurt, raw cane suger and which ever fruit or hazelnut go in, they even do a caramel flavoured one and has a tart tang to it, saying to me that there is not too much sugar in it. the hazelnut one is my total favorite of them all.
Well keep the post going round, ttfn

They also recommend the NHS eat well plate with carbs for every meal! If I ate the carbs they recommend I would be very ill indeed!

Even that would be too hi carb for me - but add in spinach or kale, and maybe a courgette, then blitz and... heaven - a green smoothie with virtually no BG impact.

I wonder if the people who are on high carb breakfasts are either on medication, or don't have a blood glucose monitor to know what it is doing to their BG levels?

I would agree berries don't seem to cause me too many issues.
I don't avoid fruit in general, just take an appropriate amount of insulin for it.
