Hi. I've always had cereal for breakfast usually weetabix with skinny milk and canderel or honey.
I can't see me eating cooked breakfast like eggs and bacon like I've been reading about on here.
Now I read cereal is not good for me. I don't know what to do.
I've not had breakfast for the last few days just coffee's.
Plus my GP has given me Orlastat to loose weight.
Can any one help please x

If you don't like a fry-up then one Weetabix is not a big problem but don't touch the honey as it's just another sugar. I have home-made muesli with cold milk but not too much as well as a fry-up sometimes. If you are avoiding a fry-up of full fat milk due to Sat Fat scares then be aware it's all based on invalid data; have some fat and enjoy it.

With regards to the Weetabix, probably best to test yourself before and after, as it would seem we are all differently affected by things. I know some on here report it is bad for their BG, which clearly they have discovered through testing, so wisely they do not eat it anymore, but not uncommon for me to be .5 lower after it and if I do go up never been by more than 1, just have milk with mine, no other additives, so dependent upon how it affects you as an individual which you will only know by testing, as to whether you are okay on it or not.

Hi Happy Hippy! As Gary1205 touched on above, everyone reacts to different foods differently, so the best thing to do is to test before and after to see how your body reacts to weetabix. There are also other breakfast options available, for example have you tried porridge with berries?

Good luck with the testing and I hope you can still have your weetabix ;) x x

There are plenty of ideas on the low carb forum.
Eating any grains in breakfast cereals would rocket most diabetics blood glucose levels.
They are to be avoided unless you are one of the few who can tolerate them.
Most cereals now contain what I would call production sugars. The likes of weetabix is covered in them. Special k is suppose to be a healthy breakfast but contains over 60% carbs and has 30% sugars. How can that be healthy for diabetics?

For breakfast I had a tin of sardines , sauekraut, mayo and a black mug of java .2hours later BG, 5.3. FBG 5.3.

You could bake some low carb muffins (use ground almonds, coconut or sesame flour) - thes can be sweet o savoury, and will keep in the fridge for about a weelk. You can make a sort of porridge with cream and ground almonds, or look at the various Linwoods offerings, again with cream. They are rather expensive but you need very little to make an adequate breakfast bowl! Amazon sell these packs, but I've bought the flax, nuts and Q10 version from Tescos. You can also make a bowl of ful fat/Greek yoghurt wit a few berries, or actually eat any low carb foods that you fancy - you don't have to eat a traditional breakfast, and this makes eating first thing a lot simpler. Coffee with a generous helping of double cream can often keep you gong until lunch time.
