I would like to undersand the relation between breathing and blood sugar levels. How do one influence the other one? How does the different gazes involved in breathing impact on BSL?

Many thanks to anyone who have some information. Please give your sources of information.

Here is a link to a study which relates to:

The effect of maternal blood sugar levels on fetal breathing movements .
It is a condensed report. If you want the full version you will have to pay for it. It may be of assistance to you.

If you are after more specific information I think you need a Biochemist. Not sure if we have any on here ?

Elementary Biology,
the Carbon in carbondioxide( which is respiratory waste) comes from glucose.

The simple equation is:
6O2( molecular oxygen) + C6 H12 O6( glucose) = 6 CO2 ( carbon dioxide)+ 6H2O ( water)
Sorry I can't get subscripts to work in those formulae.
thus the more glucose is used, the more carbondioxide is produced
Carbon dioxide is the gas which stimulates breathing, so more carbon dioxide, leads to faster breathing too
