Can anyone tell me if diabetes can lead to breathing problems or asthma like symptoms I've never had asthma but had really bad breathing problems of late ?

Re: Breathing problems

Never heard that John but I know this year has been very bad for hayfever ? Could be this or something totally unrelated.

Are your sugars high? I always have trouble breathing when I have high sugars.

Re: Breathing problems

For a few years I had a mild asthma caused by a mould spores behind the wallpaper we stripped off in our old house, since losing lots of weight it has cleared up.( not sure if the two are connected) Mentioned this to my nurse when she asked if I wanted my inhalers on repeat script.

When I said I hadn't used them for a couple of years but kept an in date one just in case she told me if I did get breathless to see GP ASAP as it may be an indication of something else - she said unexpected breathlessness was like chest pains as in something you should always get checked out just to be sure,

Sorry don't mean to scare you but better safe than sorry

Re: Breathing problems

Do please see your GP and get it checked out. I have had recurring problems with sudden bouts of breathlessness for about a year -- none of the doctors were terribly interested, as I had no particular chest pains and was OK on the stress test, but a recent CT scan showed that I have two blocked coronary arteries. So do get the breathing test done asap -- it may be asthma or an allergy, but it's important to make doubly sure it isn't anything more serious. Always better to play safe. Good luck!
