Hi im 27 and i would just like some advice on where to go from here. Basically for just under a year i have had all the symptoms of type 2 diabetes along with high sugar readings. I have had a fasting glucose and a a1c which have both apparently come back normal. The doctor is convinced im not diabetic and when asking for a glucose tolerence to rule out he rejected this. But yet after eating my sugars go upto anything from 11 to 24 for instance today 2 hours after eating it was 16.7? And it only reduced down now to 14 . So does this sound like a non diabetic to you? As i literally begged the dr for a glucose test i dont know where to go from here as i dont want to be untreated. I had gestational diabetes and also on anti biotics for 2 abcess but i always have them coming back. My friend is a diabetic but her readings are lower than mine i use her machine x

hi, the night i was diagnosed i was basically denying my diagnosis and asking if this could be a mistake i was 24.9 fasting, the doctor said to me, if a non diabetic sat and ate 5 doughnuts there bg would not go above 11, im not saying this is right but thats what he said, so by that logic, id say yes you are diabetic :( sorry

your friend with the lower readings could be a type 1 on insulin.?

Haha.. donut test. Yea i am pretty sure i am an untreated diabetic but the doctors wont listen to my sugar readings they will only do something with a1c which is coming back normal :-( i have every symptom and high meter readings as stated and its scary cos i have a3 year old and need to feel well again but they wont listen and iv heard the a1c isnt that reliable . Whatttt can i do i always have readings that high after food that stay high

With those numbers I would guess you were diabetic. You need to persist or see another doc. Good luck and hope I'm wrong.

If your readings are seriously that high 2 hours after eating, it might be worth going to A&E in case you are T1

Yea trying to find new one to believe me as like stated they r only going on a1c

Your levels definitely indicate diabetes but you say you had an A1c test that came back negative? I'd ask for it to be done again. You could also arrive at the surgery early in the morning before eating anything with your meter and fail a fasting blood glucose test in front of the doc by scoring more than 7.

Better still find a doctor with a brain and an interest in your health.

i was 18.1 and diagnosed the same day .. defo get second opnion x

At a guess I would say that you are it's a bit strange the tests coming back normal. You said you have had other symptoms over the last year or so. What are they?
