If your HbA1c is coming back normal but you have blood sugars that high, it's more likely to be T1. HbA1c is an average of the last 3 months, so sounds like your symptoms are fast onset. If you get readings over 16/17 and you also have a fruity smell on your breath like pear drops or nail polish remover (acetone) then you could be at risk of ketoacidosis which can be serious and you should go to A&E. Don't want to sound dramatic but it's something to be aware of - otherwise keep pestering your doctors.

THANK YOU IM SCARED TOO BUT I WILL AND IF IT GETS REALLY HIGH AGAIN LIKE 20S I SUPOSE TRY ANE X THNKS FOR ALL UR REPLIES AND ADVICE

Your readings imply diabetes. Did the GP tell you what your HBa1C result was? You are entitled to those results and if necessary ask reception. In old money anything above 6% is starting to indicate diabetes and over 7.5% it needs serious action. Do ask for a 2nd tHBa1C if necessary from another GP

I was diagnosed on 28th Jan. my bs fasting was 13.1 - your choice but I'd ask for another opinion. Preferably by someone who hadn't bought their medical degree on ebay - lol! Think you have every right to be worried and should try and see another doctor! Good luck!

Sounds very much like LADA to me. At diagnosis I had normal fasting and normal HbA1c. 13 something on a random. That is typical of early stage LADA as the first phase is non existent but the basal is pretty strong. Only a glucose tolerance test will confirm. The post prandial spikes are horrendous with LADA - 26 after porridge was one of my best!

Hi,
i would definately see another doctor, we once did a test where my kids ate whatever they wanted and none of them went higher than 11mmol and within 2hrs were bk to normal, see someone asap as this is not normal
