Diagnosed about a year ago, Doc slowly increased levels of meds. now on 500mg Metformin one 3 times a day, and 80 mg Gliclazade twice a day. Had no energy for months been in hospital 4 times with Pancreas and gall bladder problems . My BS levels have gone from a steady 6 to 7 up to 16 to 18. eating more healthy but cant get them down. Any ideas?

Are you very low carbs and sugars?. And getting enough full fat to help your system?
What sort of endocrine problems have you had?

Do you eat too much? Do you drink too much?

If you can give us an idea of what your average days diet is, we could help.

Can you exercise? How much can you do?

How are your blood glucose levels? Do you have a meter? When do you test?

Sorry for the questions, but it will help to suggest ideas which will help you.

On this forum and I am a perfect example of how it works, we recommend that you lower your carbs, and starchy veg, find foods that don't raise your blood glucose levels so much.
I low carb and don't eat much bread grainy foods, cereals, rice and starchy veg like potatoes, fruit in moderation, no pasta. What I eat is mainly meat and veg with pulses
I have lost 5stone in two years and I'm healthier and fitter.
Have a look in the low carb forum for dietary ideas and recipes, have a look in the thread, 's hat have I eaten today's that will give you loads of ideas.
Even simple walking can lower your blood glucose levels a bit and everything helps
We recommend testing before meals and 2 hours after. This will give you a baseline of what food is doing to your blood glucose levels. If you go above 2mmols after 2 hours, then there is something is 'spiking' you. Keep a record of what you eat and test and experiment.

If however, your blood glucose levels continue to rise, seek medical advice.
Control of what you eat and your blood glucose levels is the most important part in feeling better and fitter

Hope this helps. Do have a look around the forum and read about the success stories on the forum.

Hi. Sorry to hear this. You say you have a lung problem. Do you take steroids? These can raise your blood sugar. I have asthma but have been on steroids for the past 2 years due to rheumatoid arthritis. Sugars are constantly high.

Mac have a read of this please.
All the way to the bottom of the page.
Your diet is actually terrible for a diabetic by the sounds of it.

All breakfast cereal is risky.
As are spuds bread pasta pizza noodles beer biscuits and so on but but but ... I know that sounds a bit grim but it really isn't as bad as it sounds.
Stick with this place mate you've landed in the best place you could have.
My diet and the NHS advice I was getting would have had me fatter sicker miserable or dead by now but I found this place ... seemed daunting and even crazy at first but here I am having fry ups in greasy spoon cafe's and having lost three stone got the blood sugars under control blood pressure down cholesterol slowly heading in the right direction.
Welcome to a healthier you.
