Yesterday's fasting 5.3
4pm 5.5
2hrs post dinner 5.3
Bed 5
Didn't test lunch again as tried and tested homemade soup and bit of cheese. Had to do a few bits in town yesterday including returning some trousers I purchased online, intending for work/interviews.......should have realised I'd ordered wrong as way too big!! Nice boost that the lady in store dealing with me said I was looking good and said I had lost a lot?? Cue a conversation about lchf!! I then went and strutted my stuff round town with a spring in my step!!

Went to bed last night on a spike of 9. I had a liver & onion packet meal, with veg must have been the gravy...

It was 6 this morning. following on from Mrs C' s theme ..my total weight loss is a healthy 21lbs since June . Nothing fits me anymore, everything I put on looks like I'm wearing tents...guess what I've asked Santa for :-)

I won't be testing after my breakkie either, virtually carb free .

Have a great day folks

Fasting 5.8
after breakfast 6.2 at 1hr

No lunch for me until I get back from my cholesterol test as I'm on a mini fast. I am already an hour past my usual lunch time and ravenous! I could eat a scabby donkey. Current level 5.5

Shocked to see a ten for the first time in ages two hours after lunch of a bowl of vegetable soup, a quarter of a small brown bread roll and some butter.

I was at 6,0 before lunch, which already I thought was higher than I usually am.

I had the same soup before without spiking like this.

I did sneeze a couple of times this afternoon but I do not feel like I have caught a cold.

Maybe the experiment with reducing from 1700 to 1000mg metformin is not worth continuing.

Pavlos

Edit - walked round the office a bid and now down to 6,7 two and a half hours past lunch.

Does Metformin have a cumulative effect or is it very much a case of a daily dose for daily effect? I'm reducing mine from 1500 to 1000 ( though I do have two at night every so often ) as I'm sure it contributes to my anxiety. Be interested in knowing this.

6.7 before lunch
6.2 after lunch

Didn't get to do a walk at lunch time as its raining here... but kinda glad as I think my cold is back grrr Going round to M&D's this evening, as my dad has promised to do me a good old fry up and I have promised to help teach him how to use ebay!!

Turns out I am coming down with a cold after all. Have sore throat and really bad headache. Not getting much sympathy from the wife. I've just been told it's my own fault for not wearing warmer clothes.

Actually I think I probably caught a bug from my mom. I give her a lift in my car every day and she has a cold at the moment,

Sugars at 4,6 before dinner and then 8,2 one hour after dinner ( about 25g carbs). Still at 8,1 half an hour later.

So sorry to hear this. Poor love...remember to drink lots of fluids. Really important when fighting a virus and will help to keep your bg from rising too much. Keep warm and take good care and hope you feel better very soon

Thank you.

I am sure I'll be fine.

Can't let a mere cold get me down. I've got bigger enemies to fight!

Intend to milk it for some extra TLC from the wife though. Breakfast in bed tomorrow morning maybe... :-)

Funny how my elevated levels indicated something was up before I was actually showing any symptoms though!

Pavlos

Yes your body would have been on alert before the symptoms came out. Your temperature would have started to rise a bit too
Have not checked temperature but my eyes have been "burning" slightly so that might have been it.

Is paracetamol ok for diabetics to take?

Hope you soon feel better. I've had a tickly throat on and off for few weeks now and it's annoying.
I think Paracetemol should be ok on its own, though I don't tend to take anything for a temperature as antipyretics can depress body's ability to deal with infection. Maybe a hot water with some lemon in it?

Yes! Paracetamol every 4 hours and more fluids than you think you need. Keep sipping whatever you fancy. Lemon in sparkling water is good too for your throat

hope you feel better soon.... It is the season for coughs and sneezes ... I really can't shift mine at the moment. It's the cold that keeps on giving
