BS readings

Is there a particular reason you are testing at 2.5hrs? The normal time is 2hrs after your first bite. I would expect most low carb meals to have been virtually done and dusted by 2.5hrs. Especially white bread as it is a quick release carb, meaning it converts to glucose very fast, so is likely to peak earlier, but all that fat will have held it down a bit.

6 Jaffa cakes????? Blimey. :eek:
YEP, 6 Jaffa Cakes..................purely for testing purposes you understand.:rolleyes::D

Sorry Bluetit, forgot to answer your first question.
The reason I test every 2 1/2 hrs is because of what I've read on here. I've had days where I've tested at 2, 2 1/2, and 3 hrs and found that the 2 1/2 hrs is the peak for me (highest of the 3), so stuck to doing every 2 1/2 hours.

supper +2 = 6.9 which included my first piece of chip shop cod in batter since March (!) - my reward for lugging in an 8ft pine Christmas tree and positioning it ready to decorate tomorrow

Bedtime = 5.9

A lot depends on what you eat as to when you will peak, but generally speaking the actual peak is more likely to be at 1 hour, and on the way back down at 2 hours, even further down at 2.5hrs. The longer it takes to come down to acceptable levels, the worse it is. I suggest you go back to testing at 2 hours and aim for no more than a 2mmol/l rise between before and 2hrs after. If you have a very naughty Jaffa cake again, test before and 1hr after. You may be shocked.

I myself need to test at 2.5 hrs because I seem to get a spike at this time with some foods.

I've run out of strips today and won't get anymore till Monday afternoon.
Did manage to get a before brek reading of 5.4 and an after tea reading of 5.7. So quite happy with that and with not having anymore strips it will give my fingers time to healsmiley thumb.jpg

Fasting a hefty 6.5
Post breakfast / pre lunch 5.1
Post 5.9 average
Pre dinner 4.9
Post 6.5 ( maybe too soon after peddling to test but it was time)

Took one Metformin today as I think my fasting needs it, even if it's psychological .... May try two again and see if I cope again with them, Was fine on two but GP told me to up to 4 - got to three then having lost weight I just felt dizzy and panicky on three.

Hmmmm ..... 8.0 at 2 hours which is a REALLY minor jump for me. Sort of felt it actually as I'm really calm this morning :)
