Hi not felt too good this evening so tested my BS and it's 4.7 I was wondering if I was feeling funny cause it's too low for me?? I know the range is 4-7 but I've never been this low before

4.7 is OK to be honest, unless you are used to being higher ? Just keep an eye on your levels to make sure they're not still dropping.

if your bgs have been too high for a long while, you can get what they call a false hypo, this is nothing to worry about, your body will adjust to the lower glucose levels and itll stop happening.... well done 4.7 is great :)

edit: im as low as 3 most days, as long as you dont take meds that cause hypos ive been advised that this is fine, im used to it i suppose because i never gets any symptons

Oooo ok!!! So feeling all weak is normal and it'll stop happening then??
Lowest I've been is 5.3

wait! im not saying you dont have something else wrong causing you to feel unwell!!!

im just saying if your unwellness is related to the 4.7 reading then its normal and fine :)

of course if you continue feeling unwell see your doc

I've been fine up until the last three hours which is why I though it was BS related! And as never going that low before presumed it was that!! I have just had something to eat and am starting to feel slightly better!!

i just tested and was 4.1 and was happy with that . so i wouldnt worry to much unless you drop further lowest i have been was 2.1 and still didnt feel unwell this diabeties thing is crackers xx

Thank you!! I'm still new at all this and still don't get half of it!! Half the time I don't believe I'm diabetic

Ah yes the symptoms on there sound the same as mine so I will ride it out and bare it in mind now I know that! It's all alot to take in isn't it!

dumpy222 - yep if you're body is used to higher BS levels , when it drops lower you CAN feel quite wobbly, strange etc...
I felt weird at being under 7 then 6 till my body adjusted to the lower BS levels .

It is a huge learning curve being diabetic but we dont change or believe ourselves any differently than we always feel or
see ourselves . Bit like as we get older we can still feel - like we are still 'young' ;)

You are doing brilliantly :)

i found this thread, there are lots of threads about it and even more about it on google, i searched but lots where american with american numbers so i dont want to confuse things so have a look at this, then maybe seacrh the forum for "false hypo" just pop that in the search bar up top

I wrote in that thread that I felt worse when I hit similarly low numbers. That was in November, and I can still tell when my levels are low, by the tingling in my hands and feet and sometimes by my generally feeling 'rough'.

It's eased a bit over the past 2 months, or maybe I'm becoming more used to it, but it's not going to stop me trying keep those figures low. I reckon if my levels were high for years my body is not going to get used to such a significant change overnight. It took me 6 months to shake off the main effects of smoking, I think this change is probably even more profound.
