Despite it's name buckwheat is not a grain but a seed & is gluten free. I find that I don't get the hypoglycemic symptoms to buckwheat foods (pasta/ crisp breads etc) that I do to grain flour-based foods (rice, rye, spelt, wheat). Does anyone else find this?. I assume that its reasonably low carb judging by my (non) reactions to it & according to my fitness app.

It may be high in carbs but You would only know if it spikes your BG if you test after eating.
I know for myself I can have small amounts of non grain carbs, like potatoes with out it raising my BS more then 2 mml

The op has stated he may be RH!
That means that even low GI foods, he/she would probably be intolerant to.
Buckwheat is high in carbs and only testing will give you the answers.
You may not get the symptoms but your blood may still spike!

Thank you very much for your responses & info asparagusp, hotpepper2000, nosher & Brunneria .
I will get busy with meter & food diary & test out what my underlying response to buckwheat is.
Nosher FYI - I'm a woman but no reason you would have known this from my previous posts :)
Thanks again
