Welcome to the world of Byetta FordPrefect.
You should be ok on the 30 gauge needles, but when they run out ask for the 31 gauge as these are thinner and so less likely to cause bruising. Whatever you do, don't be tempted to try the 29 gauge - feels like you are injecting with a drain pipe! I'm surprised your diabetes team didn't recommend the thinner gauge because, even if they are new to Byetta, they must have patients on insulin pens which take the same type of needles.
If there's anything you are unsure of just ask - we have members on here who are more knowledgable on Byetta than most of the medical profession!!
