I had been on byetta for 3 years, lost 11 and a half stones. Recently had been having hypo's pretty often. Falling sometimes under 2 ml and requiring hospital stay once.
I was taken off byetta 2 weeks ago and now the horror begins. I have the odd hypo still or go too high when testing blood. I am hungry all day long, and the worst thing is I have gained a stone in weight. It's getting out of control and I can see I am going to pile the weight back on. I am devastated and not getting much help from doctors etc. Any one been in the same position? I need help.

What is your diet approach? Perhaps you have been relying on the Byetta too much and not enough on a lower-carb/lower-portion size diet? I may be wrong but let us know your diet and perhaps we can help in some way. To manage the hunger you need to go for low-GI carbs, proteins and some fat etc; also give your body time to balance itself after coming off the Byetta. What meds are you on now?
