Prediabetes Cals not carbs

I would now like to increase my cals somewhat after two months on very low amounts. How do I do this without increasing my carbs?

You could add more fats to your diet - avocado, cheese, cream, nuts (check those that are lower carb as some have surprising amounts of carbs), would all be good.

Easy - increase your fats and protein. You can kill 2 birds with 1 stone by eating extra proteins that are also fats, such as eggs and cheese,

I have done this with targeted smoothies.... I was losing too much weight as I just couldn't eat enough calories so I now have a daily smoothie that is low carb but around 1000 cals.

Nuts, peanut butter, avocado, double cream, Greek yogurt, berries and water...

I'm managing to maintain weight reasonably well with this approach.

macadamia nuts are really nice as they almost only contains fats or walnuts which are high in omega 3´s

Curious if you started drinking your smoothie during the day rather than night and if your fastings improved??

I started having it in the mornings and sometimes another small one after my evening meal.

I hardly budge from it, 0.5 increase at most. It's made no difference to fasting, 5.9 this morning.

I seem to wake up at the same level I went to bed at every day. It's like my metabolism stops when I sleep, I'm a strange one lol.

I deliberately seek out recipes for high calorie snacks..biscuits, fathead pastry sausage rolls, cakes and I eat Atkins bars. I am having trouble stopping losing weight and this is helping somewhat. I keep my meals LCHF, but not as low carb as some need to...about 30 per meal.

That must mean I'm also a strange one! My bedtime and fastings have almost always matched each other in the 5s, but during the night I drop quite a bit (according to my Libre) so my liver must still be working when I'm asleep as it brings me back to where it wants me to be in time for getting up. It likes me in the 5s.

Sorry ... derailing.

One other thing with calories and no carbs is red wine. Once all my weight had gone and I needed extra calories I resumed my old habit of a glass every evening. It's also good for the heart!

I've adopted that healthy measure too.... One glass turned into 3 last night though and I passed out on the sofa.....

Funny thing is I switched from red wine to vodka water and a lemon and I lost 7 pounds in less than two weeks. Must have put me over my carb tolerance as it was also starting to raise me a bit. Vodka always lowers me.

If I, going to bed slightly on the high side I have a chilled shot and presto!
