I just found out I can..

I assume you're talking about blood from a previous prick, as opposed to just rupturing a vessel with nothing but the power of your squeeze....lol....

yes a previous prick but i'm sure the prick is pretty old, like more than a day.

I do this and try to guess whether I can taste the sweetness of my blood relating to my blood machine reading!

Funnily enough i can normally guess pretty accurately my BG from the speed at which it shoots up the test strip It must be to do with how thick / sticky the blood is i guess.

My concern is that if you squeeze +++ you might squeeze out other fluid in addition to blood and this could dilute the blood sample and affect the result.

I seem to think that the saliva actually helps close up the hole quicker, but that might just be me fantasizing.......
