Am just wondering if anyone can help my sistuation and give me a clue what it may or could be thanks. Really appreciate it :)

I'm 15 and 12 stone but am on a diet and eat healthy also 5,11 and female :have been experiencing symptoms of diabetes like ( drink, toilet a lot, fatigue , dizziness , clammy and cold hands , dry lips , blurred vision , cold feet and hands they also go numb , headache constantly , stomach ache , feeling sick , sweet smell to my urine also got the toilet a lot more during the night , also in December just gone I had three flu cases and 2 cases of conjunctivitis just wasn't my year haha

Also have an auto immune disorder and basically I bought a meter to see what my reading was so if I Go the doctors ill have something to back me up, and the other day I needed the toilet so I brought my meter into the toilet as on the way felt dizzy , headache and really tired and felt unbalanced , this is 4 hours after eating and I done my sugar level before going the loo and it was 7.8 I don't know if that is good or not also when I went the loo it smelt really sweet it has also been 8.9.

And yes previously when I was 14 I had the same symptoms but the docs said it wasn't diabetes, they said it was a bit over abnormal but didn't do nothing about it and just put it down to me being over weight witch I have now lost 5 stone nearly 6 , so if I go don't know what they will put it down to this time , but this time I feel totally different it feels a lot worse then last time and nearly feel although I am going to pass out everyday, and I am going my doctor on Thursday to see if they can shed light on the sistuation, just wondering if anyone on here has a clue of it might be Type 1 or 2 or 1.5 or not diabetes ,it has also been 7.7 4 hours after meals and in the 6,7s without eating at all thanks :) .

Hi

I think it's a good idea that you're going to see your doctor! As soon as you get a diagnosis, you will be able to start taking action! Although I'm obviously not a doctor, it does sound as if something is not quite right!

If you get a diagnosis of pre-diabetes, or type 1 or 2 - you have found the right place to be. This forum is really helpful and supportive. Diabetes is manageable and it is possible to live a healthy, active life with it - but it is much easier if you have someone to talk to and put questions to.

Good luck.

Hi. Not all of your symptoms are those of diabetes but some are. I think you need to be measuring 2 hours after a meal. If the readings are below 8'ish then that's reasonably near normal and the doc might say you don't have diabetes but perhaps pre-diabetic. If your readings go into double figures then do insist that the doc does a glucose fasting test (GTT) and/or HBa1C. The sweet smell could be ketones but your blood sugar levels don't appear high enough for that? Normally anyone getting diabetes at age 15 it would be late onset T1 not T2 but as you say if you are overweight and do turn out to have diabetes it is always possible it is insulin resistant T2 but don't panic as you may well not have it at all.

Hi my name is natalie ive been diabetic for fourteen years. When i first found out i had all the same symptoms you are having, so i cant really say what type of diabetes you have got but it does sound like you are.

Please do go to your doctor, no-one can diagnosis diabetes or anything else over the internet. It maybe that you are prediabetic rather than diabetic.
People diagnosed with T1 diabetes at your age typically have very high glucose levels . T1 at 15 is usually a fast onset and very often the young person has been losing weight rapidly without trying. (to compare, I wasn't young but my fasting glucose ie without eating for over 12 hours was in the mid 20s)
Your history is different since you had a rather high weight a few years ago. if you were diagnosed to be diabetic it wouldn't be immediately obvious as to whether you had T2 or another type. What would be important is the best treatment.
