Can bottled water be taken on airplane in hand luggage

My son is type 1 and we are going on holiday soon and was wondering if type 1 people can carry bottled water in hand luggage on an aeroplane. Our consultant said we can but I am unsure. I thought only sugary drinks could be.

Last time i flew, 2 years back.? I forgot I had bottled liquid in my hand luggage bag. (water.) it came up on the scan? I had to dispose of it.. :banghead:
 
Hi @1claire, you can only take bottles with liquids <100ml through security whatever they are. You could get a bottle of water on the other side in duty free and take that on board of course.
 
You won't be allowed to take it through security but you can buy some once you are through.

Your son should have no trouble with solid hypo treatment in the hand luggage.
I once got quizzed over a "black spot" in my bag they couldn't identify.. Thinking it was a five pack of Mars bars from the "description" they gave me. Emptying out, happened to be a couple of CDs I'd bought in Germany...

No, you have to throw it away in the big tub before you get to security. Once through security, you can buy some on the other side, if you want.

On the plane, I found free tap water was readily available :)

Sugary drinks can't be carried through, you'll need to buy some past security.
After that you can carry anything you buy on as hand luggage.
I've been in airports that sell pretty impressive glass paper openers, and 8 inch stemmed wine glasses.

For water. I've been on planes over 5 times with family and the rule is the same as other liquids as long as it's under 100ml but also why not just get a bottle of water (or/and other drinks) after passing security from the airport shops? (That's what we always did)
So bassically any liquid is fine as long as it's under 100ml

If you have a doctors note you can travel with surgery drinks! I normally fly with a carton of juice just in case I can't get something in the airport/emergency and although I have to wait a little longer in the security queue I've always been allowed it.
 
Recently rules have been tightened up. Even solids like deodorant sticks are restricted to 100ml. All solids and liquids have to be put in the small plastic bags provided. One bag per person.

How do you measure a solid in ml?
I fly with shampoo and shower soap, as solid bars, from Lush, never even been asked about them, and they're never in the liquids bag.
 
I was once stopped and searched before going on the plane, and had the water I had bought, after going through security, taken from me. I was told this was because I had opened it. The only reason I had opened it was that the waiting area was so hot!
