Can diabetes alone cause memory problems?

May be proportionate, but where did this 20% info come from in first place?

No good getting it from MHRA as GP's do not inform MHRA as they should....i certainly have proof of this, and if any other persons asked their GP if they had informed the MHRA of the side effect 80% of the GP's would say no.

Do you mean where did the study that claimed 20% side effects get their data from?

Very long term, there is a theory that Alzheimer's might be related to diabetes (Type 2), in the sense of having a common cause. I don't know much more about it than that, I just heard there is a theory.

As I understand it, cholesterol acts almost like a protective 'oil' in the brain, helping it run smoothly. It promotes the production of new brain cells and promotes communication between neurones. I think around 80% of the body's cholesterol is actually produced 'in house!' And has nothing to do with diet.
I wonder if in years to come a correlation will be drawn between high levels of prescriptions for statins and dementia.:(

According to Dr David Perlmutter, author of "Grain Brain", there is a high correlation between A1c level and your chances of getting dementia - the higher the A1c the higher the risk.

Just about every cell structure in the body is built out of cholesterol "scaffolding" which is constantly being repaired. Every kind of cell - nerve cells, brain cells, everything. Along come statins and block the ability to synthesise cholesterol (which cannot pass from the gut to the bloodstream). What a genius move. :-/
