Can my pancreas in time become fully operational again or once it has a problem with insulin it cannot revert back to its normal state?

if your pancreas is not producing insulin then no - you are insulin dependant, a type one or other variant.
You describe yourself as prediabetic, which is something different, and your pancreas could be overproducing insulin if that is the case.

If you are a pre diabetic T2 which most pre diabetics will be.. then yes in a lot of cases it’s possible to reverse/stop that with correct diet choice. However once reversed/stoped you need to continue being careful or you’ll return to the same point again

If however your HBA1C is higher than normal because your pancreas is failing then it is unlikely that you will prevent progression and you become classed T1 or one of its variants

Either way do a bit of reading in the diet sections learn the changes needed and try, see what your next hba1c says

Hi, I was pre diabetic and have had normal hba1c's for 12 years, however I'm not cured if I eat anything carby my blood sugar goes way higher than it should.
I had a high normal bmi, 24, when diagnosed, the weight was quickly lost but sadly even with a bmi of 18.5 I still had an abnormal response to carbs, I've now settled at a bmi of 20.
