Current job is a Baker. I handle a lot of sugar. It's not a case of the temptation to eat but am I allowed to handle all that sugar?

If I can't absorb then my question has been resolved. ThanksI can't see any reason why you would be required to stop working as a baker. If you do finger prick testing of your bloods, you'll have to make extra sure your hands are washed beforehand as sugar on the finger tips can cause reading errors.
Does that answer your concern, or do you have other worries?

Baker in my case is rather over played. I just heat things, I don't make it. I really don't have much of a sweet tooth my biggest problem before I changed was orange juice and fizzy drinks. In fact, because of your Diabetes, perhaps you could be someone who develops recipes low in carbs using alternative ingredients. Near me, one young cook is selling her low glycemic gluten free low carb dishes through a catering service and a tiny shop run by her and her relatives. You can get tiny tastes.....
Only worry, in fact, would be test tasting
I'm on pills and my doctor said there is no need for me to take tests. It might be in hindsight a stupid question. Just want to cover all the bases. Not taking any chances with this, better to be safe than sorryHandling sugar isn't an issue as long as you wash your hands before you test. There is no reason on earth that anyone with diabetes no matter what type can not work as a baker.
No question is stupid except the one not askedI'm on pills and my doctor said there is no need for me to take tests. It might be in hindsight a stupid question. Just want to cover all the bases. Not taking any chances with this, better to be safe than sorry

Sadly no Jim. As a diabetic you can only work as either a Butcher or a Candle Stick Maker. Can I work as a Baker?
Yep Jim. Orange juices (and fruit juices in general) were the bad guy for me as well. Until I was diagnosed with diabetes I totally underestimated how much sugar you could get from even "unsweetened" juices. Unfortunately I used to drink a huge amount of them because I mistakenly believed they were healthy.Baker in my case is rather over played. I just heat things, I don't make it. but did you squirt marshmallow cream inside before coating them with chocolate and dipping them in nuts?
Memories, in the corners of my mind
