Can metformin give you headaches and joint pain.

I dislike being diabetic and two heavy I am 80kg and want to get down to 50 kg very soon.
Hi to all,

Doc has put me on 1000 mg of metformin every day but am getting headaches got one now and also reccurrant joint pains not happy with this
might have to go bk to docs.
Any info would be useful.

maybe... statins are wellknown for it though

If you think Metformin is giving you severe side effects then stop taking it and see if the side effects stop. If so, contact your diabetes nurse of GP for an alternative medicine.

Metformin only reduces blood glucose by a small amount. You will get a much better result by going on a low carb high fat diet. Many people on these forums have found that their blood sugar levels can be brought into normal levels by diet and then the need to take medications is reduced.
