Hi me again......
For several weeks I've been having bladder issues and I'm now wondering if it's something I'll just need to live with. I've been to the doc twice and they just keep saying give it another month....
It feels tender all the time, I'll have a wee and still feel that I need to go again straight away. Yesterday was painful too all day, not just in the act of a wee I can't explain it well, the docs say they don't 'think' I have an infection. I also can't do the ahem deed with hubby without pain in my bladder. Sorry for TMI

Are you blood sugars still quite high? Sometimes it might be a UTI which maybe be caused by higher than normal blood sugar I think.. Not an expert as have never had one..

IF it is a UTI, and it sounds like it could be, (Did they bother to test? What colour is your urine?) you might want to try cranberry/D-mannose supplements, (in our case, a tablet/capsule is better than just going for the juice, as it would raise bloodsugars) and maybe drink loads of fresh ginger tea. I like it better with a slice of lemon in myself, if the taste is not to your liking... I drank about 1,5 liters of the stuff to flush it out. That's how I got rid of my last UTI, before the testresults even came back. If your bloodsugars are running a bit high, any bacteria would be having a ball, as that's what they love to feed off of.

Tips to avoid it in the future:
-make sure your bladder is completely empty. You do that by rocking back and forth when you think you're already done. Something might still come out. (After years of weeing a lot because of the T2 I didn't know I had, I suppose my sensation isn't what it used to be.. Whenever I think I'm done... I'm most decidedly not. So don't feel silly, it helps)
-after being intimate, have a wee to flush any stray bacteria away. Not romantic, but better than "not getting any" due to pain.
-take cranberry/d-mannose every now and again as a preventative measure.

If it IS actually an infection, don't walk around with it too long. Bring a sample of morning urine to the doc and insist they test if they haven't done so already, as you really do not want it to spread to your kidneys. That way lies more pain and misery. If they're reluctant, do a home test and hit 'em over the head with those results.

I wouldn't know what else it could be, but if your urine is dark, there is probably blood in there and you need to get it checked out. UTI's are no joke, but there's a bunch of other things that can be the problem instead, and you don't want to "wait a month" with those either. Could always ask a referral to a specialist... Because it sounds like a treatable/avoidable pain, and you shouldn't be made to live with it.

Hope you feel better soon!
Jo, she of TMI.

football, both the game and the culture.
The doctor says Put up with it for another month! Thats awful, a really bad attitude on his part. Cannot believe the doc says you dont have an infection and is not doing test to find out. You may need antibiotics. I think you need to insist on a test to at least rule out the possibility of infection. Dont want to scare you - but long running UTI can eventually cause kidney problems.
Get out your phone and make appt ASAP.

They are pretty much in the 5s now all day even after eating as I'm on keto/LCHF.

Hi Jo
They tested a few weeks ago and all was ok, although she said I could be on the tail end of a UTI. Last week she didn't test and said wait a month...wee is pale yellow although this morning now slightly cloudy which I think could be an infection sign.
I do the back and forth as I remember it well from being pregnant many years ago haha.
Think I'll be going back this week if I can't flush it within a couple of days.
Thank you for your advice.

Cloudy... Yeah. That does indicate something's up, more often than not. It may not have been the tail-end of an infection, but the beginning of one. Good luck, and I'll be hoping you're rid of this soon!

That is so awesome. Really pleased it’s working out for you. Well done and keep it up!
Thanks Jim, still stalling a bit on the weight but I know it will come off in its own time. I'm doing all I can food wise, and now have a treadmill to up the exercise

Hi, not this time. She said she'll leave it a month and then if still having problems will send a sample to the lab...

Don't put up with it, you can bet she sure wouldn't. This is interfering with your life in general.

Ok so I have blood, protein and white cells. She said it is not typical signs of just a UTI so I have to take 3 days of antibiotic and go back to see what is left in my urine. Have no clue what that would mean.

Weird... They're all signs of an infection, and you're getting antibiotics, which treat infection... Could be higher up in your system maybe, but still. First it's doubtful it's a UTI, then it's not just a UTI? Whatever. I just hope it works! Fingers crossed it helps! And good on ya for going back!

I think she was trying to say to me if it was a straight forward UTI it would have been just white cells. But all 3 together she seemed slightly concerned. I've also had really bad puffy eyes the last few days, that along with the protein points to kidneys possibly. I have high blood pressure too which I'm hoping will level with the low carb diet. But yesterday it was 190/90. Just hoping it's a UTI and not kidneys...fingers crossed.
