My levemir is so unpredictable I can't take it any more!!!!!! Some days I'm fine on it, others I'm hypoing to the point where a litre of lucazade is needed. What other long acting insulins are available? I've only ever been on levemir for my long acting.

Lantus & Tresiba are the other long acting available. Tresiba is the new one and it gives a much flat profile. Check ur BGs often & find what causes the hypo. Good luck:)

The hypos are literally random,.. It won't matter whether I've been to the gym or not, or what I've eaten and it's so frustrating!!! I'm seeing my DSN today so I'll speak to her about the insulin you've mentioned-thanks!

How much you taking? Maybe take a smaller amount, I have it at 10pm, 6 units seem alright for me but you could always have a piece of bread or a biscuit before bed xxx

It could well be that you are simply taking way too much so you are roller coastering.
I had something similar a while back so I backed the levemir right off and then slowly brought it back on until I found the sweet spot.

It's probably a good idea to talk to you DSN, maybe see if they can set you up with a CGM for a while since maybe having more data will help things along some.

Are you taking the levemir once or twice a day? If just once then perhaps going to two basal injections might work better for you. It was how I used levemir.

Time for a change if levemir isn't working for you, I find lantus a good background insulin and only take it once a day.

Hi. Can I assume you are also taking a rapid insulin with meals? If not then do talk to the DN about the Basal/Bolus regime to help get things right
