It has struck me of late .
I often think outside of the box anyways o_O

Having to manage or gain control of diabetes is a bit like driving a car visual skill .
If we were to stop looking through a car windscreen we will
invariably crash into something !

Living with diabetes we need to keep our eyes on distant horizon .

Work with what works for us .
Remember each day is a new tomorrow .
If what does not work today - it can always work better tomorrow .

Only trouble is with that scenario is...
Driving instructors get you through a test and then (especially youngsters) can lose their way and thoughts with many crashing... Very like diabetes diagnosis, I agree..

So then if something goes wrong with your car.. A mechanic or body shop repair person can normally correct and you are on your way again.. Our health service do not always have great mechanics.. And for type 1's our pancreas have had a full blown blowout, and replacement parts aren't available.

Agree with keeping your eyes on the road ahead for future prospects and horizons... But it is difficult to not veer off...

Personally it would have been great to have had a possibility of being a tram... One route there, one back.

However, after watching programme last night on overweight young women, I think we ought to make an effort on thinking how to change these peoples maps of their lives ahead than the current persons that are diagnosed diabetic.

Something has to be done and nhs has to admit their advice on healthy living is wrong. Otherwise a lot of these non diabetic persons on the wrong side of the road are going to end up on a clog upped motorway going nowhere but diabetes and or other life shortening illnesses.

Unfortunately, for many T2's there are no driving instructors. It's simply a case of watching the other kids and see what they do. If you get in with the wrong crowd (e.g. the infamous Chip Butty Gang or the Donut Boys), it's going to end in a crash!

Great analogy Anna, we do have to stay focused and remain positive.

Actually that's a good way of looking at it anna, for what ever type you are :)some may be learners, some just passed ( but still cautious) and others on a more advanced course, but still keeping those eyes peeled and alert  to avoid that crash
