What is it that you'd like to test for exactly? When people finish the Newcastle diet, do you test yourself with a high carb meal, and if so how high do you go?
you should take a little while to return to what would be considered normal eating before testing your response to carbs in order to get a normal reaction rather than one in transition.
150gm of carb!! Hell's Bells!!For an OGTT's (75g carbs, from a sugary drink such as lucozade) 2 hour post-prandial BG test to be indicative of pre-diabetes/diabetes - it's recommended to eat >150g carbs for at least three days prior to the test.
Yeah >150g carbohydrates daily is what NHS Grampian suggest in their OGTT procedure document. A lot of other sources I've found don't specify a minimum daily carb intake, just "unrestricted diet" or "usual diet and lifestyle". I guess it's best for those going for an OGTT to eat how they usually would before the test as to get the most accurate results specific to their diet and lifestyle.150gm of carb!! Hell's Bells!!
I lived on a maximum of 80gm a day for years - avoiding sugars where I could.
