Carbs for me

To be honest although I've read lots and lots I havent actually counted. I dont have any bread, rice, pasta, potatoes - the really obvious ones. I have only had a few raspberries with double cream if I really want something nice. I do have a bit of gravy - so bit of carb there and as much veg such as green beans, mushrooms, cauliflower, red and green peppers and salad as I fancy. Few carrots and tomatoes. Omelette and bacon or sausage for breakfast. Salad and whole tin tuna in olive oil for lunch. Or perhaos brie and bacon salad. Salmon with green beans, chicken curry wirh spicy cumin cauli, chicjen in creamy mushroom sauce, steak etc etc for tea. I have also started taking evening primrose oil and ALA and biotin supplements. Still having bit alcohol - gin and slimline tonic or red wine occasionally. Weight at standstill kast few days. Think I need to cut cream and booze perhaps. Want to lose another stone to get normal bmi. Telling myself to take positives - tight sugars and bp without medication and not to be in too much of a hurry with weight. Dr Bernstein books very good.

Sounds more "healthy", lots of veg, salad, fish, protein, white meat, so we'll all probably agree on this one.

hope it goes well for you ,rasperries and cream sounds nice :) I cant have the steak though for some reason I have problems digesting meat lately

A bit of Franks diabetic ice cream for pudding, a fight with the kids for their chocolate caramels, (free fight, they can't win in a slam down, even though I've lost 4 stone, wrestlemania lives!), only 2 caramels from their lifeless, gasping for air bodies though.

Now 5.1 on the meter.

But while they've gone to be sick, I can put my feet up and turn blue as well.

i would say compared to pre diagnosis, i low carb and low fat in fact, although in context to my diet now its high fat its a massive reduction in fat from my old diet, but id say my diet is lower fat lower carb lower portion size than before so i suppose im all the diets mixed into one, but as i dont avoid fat and actively try to eat it starting from dx i high fat low carb, hmmm dunno if that makes sense

Makes perfect sense to me, it's pretty much what I do too, although I was avoiding fat initially, that didn't work for me, I just stopped avoiding it.

I think you're right. Low or lower carbs, good fats as necessary but not to excess snd plenty of healthy vegetables. Thats got to be the way and trying to vary and make sd exciting as possible to maintain interest. Not easy but do-able with determination.

It does become second nature and as people have said, keep things varied and interesting by experimenting.

I think you're right on "not to excess". I can't see the point of frying bacon in extra oil, or just pouring oil into soups etc for the sake of it.
When I need to go back to increased calories (very shortly:)) I reckon I will have to put some fat back in, still portion controlled though. So it'll still be grilled food, but maybe a dash of rice bran oil in the stir fry, but I think I'll still be having ryvita for breakfast and avoiding the acid reflux all day!
