Hi, I am new to the forum was diagnosed 2 yrs ago had no symptoms. I get fed up with so much contradicting advice on the internet, hard to decide what is true or not. At the moment I am interested to know what is our daily amount of carbs that we are allowed. Also I would like to ask if anyone on this forum is taking Curalin for their meds.. Many people on their forum are raving about the success they are having on this herbal remedy and their sugars are really dropping and they eventually come off metformin. Interested to know as I am tempted myself.

Everyone can tolerate a different amount of carbohydrates. You need to buy a glucometer and test before you eat and two hours after to see if your blood sugars go above the normal range. If it's higher than it should be, then reduce your carbohydrate intake and test again.

In terms of Curalin, most of the ingredients can be obtained from an average curry, as it's an Indian product. India certainly has a diabetes problem.

There's no amount of carbs that's a one-size-fits-all. Like @ert said, it's a very personal thing. No-one has your exact level of insulin production and insulin sensitivity or resistance, so a meter'd help you figure it out. I did pretty good at 40 grams of carbs a day, was happier at 20 grams though, and went even lower because it turned out to help other conditions, to drop even further. That's what worked for me. So, you pick an amount of carbs you want to start with. And you measure your blood glucose before a meal, and 2 hours after the first bite. You're aiming for a rise of no more than 2.0 mmol/l, and preferably less. If you manage that, it means your body could deal with what you put in it. You don't have to get it exactly right overnight, just experiment and go from there.

As for Curalin... While some ayurvedic herbal concoctions may help a smidge, nothing is going to beat simply not putting into your body what it can't cope with. I have been medication-free for 4 years now. No herbs in the mix, just cutting carbs.
