carbs

yes it was bloody lovely! but i saw it as my 'last naughty meal' before my attempt at lowering the carbs tomorrow!! haha!!
i just thought, that the sugar would go down.. then down.. but not up again!! ive not experienced that before!!
also ive had 1 litre of water not 500ml.... getting my next bottle now!

Im intrigued to know which ready meals you have? i do a late night shift sometimes, which isnt good for my sugar levels, so getting the food quickly when i get home, is defo a good thing!! i also have times when i am alone, as my daughter goes to see her dad, so i hate cooking for one! lol

With a carby meal it can fall and increase again! Also your meter isn't that accurate. All 3 readings could really have been 8! It's not an exact science!

If you eat something that scares your meter dust yourself off learn and have another go next time.

ive never had any help from the GP. i was told not to eat chocolate and cakes, and told to eat carbs..! so, the only things im learning is a few things off this website..! i guess its a case of trial and error...

just had a read of the southport gp, and its fascinating reading! i not only want to get better control over my BS levels.. i want to lose weight for my friends wedding in october! as well as making myself happier of course! i hope this works for me.. thank you soo much!

Just go balls out and hit the LCHF full on, first 2 weeks will be tough, but your weight will come off hard and fast, then it will plateau and you will need to refine it and add some exercise.

You'll feel better, more energy, less weight, more motivated, and the princess lived happily ever after.

Hi Kazlincs,
I understand you are trying to fight T2D? It is good that you able to measure your BS and seen your posts on varying readings. I have series of questions - please bear with me.

1. First of all, what is your BMI? what is your waist measurement? What is your body fat percentage?
2. Any exercise other than walking the dog? [it is really good to note that you spend at least an hour walking the dog - keep it up]

Answers to these questions will help you to understand the underlying problems that caused T2D. Then probably long-term remedies through diet and exercise can be chalked out. If you improve on these issues automatically you are helping yourself naturally to stay fit; T2D will be put under check.

But for now; keep checking your BS and continue 1hr of walk

@kazlincs I agree with @Daks , read up on the lchf regime and Nike it (ie just do it). It will be hugely challenging, you may despair that you will never eat 'normal food' ever again. After a week or so your bs levels drop and your perception of what 'normal food' Is changes. Embrace the change and take control, you will always find encouragement here. Good luck.

high fat and protein delays a spike and liver dumps are fun it will settle done when you cut the carbs and the insulin resistance goes down
This gives a simple overview to how it works
For me, the more carbs we eat the more carbs we want. They don’t give up easy and it’s biochemical

a long page and a few good video’s

We normally shop at Asda and they have a good range of chilled ready meals. It has been trial and error in finding which I can manage and some surprising results. As they are my main meal I can look for ones with a total carb content of below 50g per meal.

Successes have been chicken lasagne, chicken tagliettelli, chicken chow mein and chicken hotpot. (I don't like any meat minced so it does limit my choice to mainly chicken options and I'm not keen on Indian food) Failures have been chicken and bacon pasta bake (tts either the penne pasta or the white sauce spikes me), sweet and sour chicken (the unbattered variant even, the sauce is just too much sugar) and chicken and leek bake (too much potato in it)

We have tried Sainsbury's after the new one near us opened but the meals were a bit bigger and seemed to contain more carbs per pack.

Make sure you read the labels and go for ones that are less than 50g total carbs per meal (ignore the 'of which sugar' number, then try one and test before and several times afterwards. I have ended up testing every hour for 6 hours after one meal out to really find out what the spike was at (it wasn't good but i expected it knowing what I had eaten).

Remember the more fat in the meal and the longer you take to eat it the later the spike will be and will probably stay high for longer as well.

the trick is not to over do the carb in the first place, 50g carb meal will spike most T2's, after all the GTT [sugar drink blood test] is 75g carb and that sends most of us off the chart. I try to be under 50g a day..hopefully less

I find that a slice of Pumpernickel bread 55 gr 18 gr. Of Carb.spread with coconut Butter and Marmite .does not spike my BG.
Has anyone compared this bread with other carbs?

HAHA! love it!!!! that made me giggle!!!
i do doggy walking every day, and i just started a zumba class once a week
i was pretty good today, just had water biscuits, thin crackers, with butter and a teeny tiny bit of jam.. and i had almost carb free dinner! checking the sugar in about 10 ins again.. it did go down twice so far.. im hoping its gone down more again!

by the way.. love love love the less weight part!!! fingers crossed for me!!!

you need to eat or you'll get hungry and hit the carbs, it's never fats or proteins
with low carb high fat, you don't miss meals or go hungry..you eat till you are satiated
a couple of eggs, fried tomato and mushrooms with a full meat sausage or bacon or even a bit of steak for breakfast

my BMI is 30.7, which has reduced from 35.7 when i was was diagnosed diabetic. (i also have family members with T2, grandad and now my mum)
my waist is now 38 inches , no idea what it was at diagnosis though! i now do zumba once a week, and i am on my feet all day at work.

Thank You!
