Hi. I've was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes nearly 10 years ago. There have been the inevitable ups and downs but I pretty much have it under control, with Metformin and insulin. I was on 26 units twice a day but had a few hypos so found a balance and was taking 22 twice daily, which the nurse agreed. My readings are anything between 5 and 10 which the nurse says are acceptable and my last HBa1c was 53, again satisfactory for the nurse. About 2 weeks ago, I started taking Cetrazette Progesterone only pill, and over the last couple of days I have noticed my blood readings have gone up significantly - yesterday before dinner was 14.2, increased insulin to 26 due to high reading, had jacket potato and salad for dinner and 2 hours later had gone up to 17.1, averaging at 11.2 over the last 7 days (previously about 8) I have done nothing differently, eaten as I usually do, walked the dog etc and was wondering if the pill may have caused this rise? Thanks Sarah

Have you read the leaflet?

As a T2 I eat as few carbs as possible, see link in my signature.

Have you considered diet at all. I would definitely not be happy with s reading of 10.

My diet isn't in question, thanks. As I said my nurse is happy with the readings I have been having, as am i. We have frequent appointments to discuss my care, but I am struggling to get through to the surgery to discuss this. My question was regarding the pill and to see if anyone had had a similar experience

I have been on Cerazette for 3 years now and was diagnosed with type 2 last year. I went straight onto Metformin and have been using Trulicity (Dulaglutide) since Feb. My starting HBa1c reading was 130 and ive brought it down to 53 within 6 months so even with the pill ive brought my levels down well in that time (still a bit naughty on food!). My readings are around 6 whenever i take them which is not frequetly. When i started the pill it did take a month or so to get used to but that was on its own. Adding it to diabetic medication may just mean you need longer to adjust as it is a hormone treatment. If that pill isnt agreeing with you there is another brand of POP that you might get on with a bit better. You just need to keep calling the drs to ask about whether it can have this affect and what to do or working out a new balance on your insulin and then inform them to see if they agree thats the best thing. Dont know much about the insulin side of things so not sure how easy that would be. Hope this is some help :)
