CGM PROBLEMS!!!

I must be missing something , what actually is the problem ? I can see you're going low and need some glucose to bump it up but that's just part of life being type 1 diabetic .

The problem is that it is a FALSE low.

What is your actual blood sugar reading

I had some issues with a new Dexcom One+ sensor …https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/threads/new-dexcom-one-sensor-issue.204742/
I had the “Brief sensor issue” alert with no readings for about 10 minutes followed by a lot of random lower readings afterwards. Overnight I had some LOW readings, but it eventually started behaving normally, but with lower than expected readings. I did a couple of calibrations against my Contour Next meter and after that it behaved normally.

I think the issues with my sensor were due to bleeding when the sensor was inserted. You need to wait at least 3 hours and see if the sensor starts to behave normally and if necessary do a calibration.

I have been wearing this sensor since Monday night. Activated it Tuesday morning!

I had some slight bleeding but not on insertion.

I don’t think it’s going to start behaving normally any time soon! I noticed it was lower than usual when I got up this morning! Did a finger prick. CGM was way off! Calibrated with my BG meter. Calibrated about 3-4 times and still having issues! IMG_3289.png

As has been mentioned before, you can get faulty sensors.
It is not great, especially when dealing with all the other challenges of newly diagnosed Type 1. But the important thing is not to panic, accept that tech can go wrong but you have a back up and contact Dexcom for a replacement.
If you feel you are getting too many issues with Dexcom, you could try the Libre. I know you read a lot about the wonders of Dexcom but it doesn't suit everyone. I found Libre much much more reliable for me.
Libre have an offer of a free Libre trial on their website. Why don't you apply and check it out? If you prefer it to Dexcom, ask your doctor or DSN to change.
In the meantime, try to relax and maybe stop looking at your CGM readings.

I’ve just this week started using Dexcom One +, having used Dexcom One for the past 14 months (apart from anything else, it’s about £75 cheaper for three months bundle subscription — and I’m self funding). It’s too early to come to any definite conclusion but I will say that you can discount any readings for the first 24 hours. They’re not going to be reliable. After that if they are wildly off then it must be put down to either a faulty sensor, or the sensor hasn’t been placed in the appropriate location.

They all seem to be faulty for me at the moment! Problem after problem after f***ing PROBLEM!!!
contact Dexcom for a replacement.
I am SICK of contacting them!

I have already done the FreeStyle Libre free trial and then my DSN gave me another one when that ended. I found it WORSE than Dexcom!! With the Libre I was getting signal LOSS and ERROR constantly!!

As I suggested on another of your threads, maybe you should take a few weeks off without a CGM.
The stress of the errors is clearly affecting you and not helping with your diabetes management. So don't use a CGM.
Many of us survived for decades with finger pricks.

Although not using a CGM will help with the stress and I will not stress as much. If I’m not wearing one how will I know what my BG is doing? Or if I am going low. I won’t be able to prevent a hypo!

I’m not going to be pricking my fingers constantly!

Don't you feel your bg? It usually requires 2-8 checks per day, depending on how you feel. The human body is a fairly accurate measuring device. With hypoglycemia, you will wake up at night without any cgm just because you feel bad. The only downside is that you can get used to the bg that you have all the time and stop feeling hypo or spike, but аctually, dying from diabetes is not as easy as you think.

Don't you feel your bg?
If you mean do I get symptoms when I go low then no not really! I feel a bit weak. But I feel like that constantly anyway. Probably due to the fact I’m not eating enough. But how low do I have to go before i get symptoms and go into a diabetic coma!!

How do you think we survived for decades with finger pricking?
We were not pricking all day long. We used how our body felt to recognise hypos. This is important even with CGMs because, as you have seen, technology fails.
Do not rely on the tech. Make sure your body is the best indicator of highs and lows.

personally, I have symptoms if my bg is below 4, and a coma occurs at 0.8. This is not just weakness, it is a very strong tremor throughout the body and visual impairment

You seem to keep having the same problems over and over. Bad data is worse than no data, it's not helping your diabetes control and just adding to your anxieties. Give CGM a rest or try a different product such as the Libre 2.

So, what is your CGM saying now? Has it started to behave as you expect?
