change of insulin

Iv Been on Levemeir 76 units am pm Novorapid 14 units each meal Iv just been changed due to my high levels.
im now on Humulin m3 25 units pre breakfast pre eveng meal Humulin isophane 60 units am and pm.
will this work better getting my levels down. Iv been told to make homemade soup any recepies anyone can tell me . :x

Hi. Those injection levels are quite high implying you are possibly insulin resistant? Are you overweight? Are you on a low-carb diet? If not on low-carb diet then I would suggest it might help you to reduce your injection levels over time and your weight if you are indeed needing to reduce it. You should, of course, only change injections with the advice of the nurse and/or if you know your carb intake has gone down so that you avoid a hypo. Home made soup is also a good idea but try to avoid too much carb in it.
 
About 10 years ago, I followed DSN advice and kept increasing my basal (lantus) dose to get my prebreakfast BG under 7. By the time of my next appointment, 3 months later, I was on 70 lantus at bedtime and still in double figures in the morning.

I was diagnosed as insulin resistant and given metformin. Can't say it helped me but others had more success in bringing their basal dose back down. Maybe see if your consultant can try you on some metformin?
