Hi all,
I'm new to this site. I've had type 2 diabetes since having my son 15 years ago. I was diet controlled for 10 years and then had to go on to Metformin. I also have familial high cholesterol which is at its higest peak at present causing all sorts of symptoms and ailments. Last week I presented to A&E feeling very unwell, my speech went, I was confused and disorientated. they thought that I had had a stroke or a TIA so was put onto asprin and sent for a CT scan. It all proved negative so I was diagnosed with Transient Migraine!!! (never heard of it before) which masks as a TIA. Anyway, tests showed my cholesterol was up to 8.9, my HBA1c was 8.7!!!! I'm on 1000mg metformin but am still finding it difficult to control my glucose levels. I have changed my diet completly and avoid snacking (even when i'm feeling hungry) and only eat 3 times a day at meal times. I hate the feelings I get when my glucose levels are high....the thirst, the disorientation, clumsiness, lack of concentration, urine frequency and general lethargicness. I'm currently testing my bloods between 5/6 times a day to take a diary to my GP at my next visit and also have appointments for an echo cardio scan, a CT scan and a 24 hour cardiac tape......
I joined this forum as it would be so nice hearing from anyone else who is having difficulties with thier control and also for general support.
I've recently had my 47th Birthday and would really like to be well enough to one day enjoy my grand children if I have any!!! I've lost 3 siblings thorugh heart disease and diabetes and its a huge worry and stress... Arghhhhhhh (head in hands).....
I look forward to hearing from someone......anyone.....
