Hello, I'm still a newbie and learning as I go. My diagnosis was made following days of blurred vision. It was as if I suddenly became very short sighted.
I have managed to reverse the high BG and stopped tsking Metformin 2 days ago. My BG is now in the range for a non diabetic person. I am on a low carb diet.
I was delighted when my distance vision gradually corrected itself. I havd an unexpexted issue in that my near vision has now become blurry.

Any advice would be welcome.
 
Vision does all sorts of odd things whilst we bring blood sugars under control through diet.
It can often take a month or even longer for some of "normalised" blood sugar before it all settles back down.

Its best to wait about 3 months of regular readings before doing anything about glasses etc.
After almost 5 years of ultra low carb mine have settled down and all retinopathy issues have resolved.
 
You should get some stability if you keep your BG normal - it is the glucose levels changing which cause the trouble. Your sight should settle down to what it should be before long, but I can't promise that it will be perfect - it is what it is, but without the influence of high BG is the best way forward.

When was your last diabetic eye check up?

Hi Jaylee, diagnosis was only 9 days ago and hyperglycemia was diagnosed by the eye clinic. It seems the eyes can take a while to settle down whilst BG moving around. I am controlling BG by low carb diet. As I was not overweight to begin with and only had a fat belly, it seems that I have had a very quick response in BG to the change in diet.

Hi,

Sounds like you are doing well with the BGs. :)

It can take a little while to ajust with the eyes.

I can appreciate during the current "covid" situation makes things difficult with hospitals.
Is there another ophthalmologist appointment due for you?

I was recently of for 3 weeks of work due to my vision going loopy due to me reduceing my sugar levels but have now calmed down and will give a couple more months and go and upgrade my glasses. So dont be to concirned about your eyes as they will return to normal eventually, if not then get them checked properly.
