Changes to Retinopathy testing times

I wonder if this is why Boots and Specsaver are getting tooled up to do this checks (at a price)?

Hopefully Yes, I know Specsavers are having just been there for an eye test several weeks back.

Is it possible for someone to go from no sign of retinopathy to advanced PDR in the space of less than 2 years? Particularly if they have a bg lowering event after a period of poor control such as - type 2 undiagnosed many years, going on to a pump, doing DAFNE, pregnancy.
If so then some people will surely slip through this net.

It would seem the answer is yes:

Noblehead:

can you tell me what they charged for the retinopathy check please? If I have to wait 2 years for the NHS, I need to start saving for a private test :(

Whenever 'cost-effective' and 'safe' are used in the same sentence I am immediately sceptical about the independence of the research.

They didn't charge me but don't know if this is due to me being a customer of theirs for many a year.

My local opti does them for £10

seems to me the 'fight' to control the problems of diabitis is tiny compared to the 'fight' to get the correct info and service from the NHS
I would like to say diabetis is not alone...I have a range of conditions and the info and service for those is ever changing and often unintelligable
