Hi all.... I'm a type 2 diabetic who used to be on humulin 1 insulin... was on for 6 months... I've now changed to humulin 3.. been on it for 2 weeks....my blood sugars are higher now than they've ever been..... is this normal or will they start to drop....?

Hi. I didn't know much about Humulin so Googled it and there are two excellent PDFs from Lilly with guidance and diagrams. have you looked at these and put them in context with the guidance from the DN? Humulin 3 is a mixed insulin which I would have expected to be better than the single Humulin 1 but it's timing for meals may be critical. Do check with the Lilly info and the DN regarding timing and dosage. If this doesn't work out and you are already low-carbing then I would ask to go onto the two insulin Basal/Bolus regime. It's more injections but complete control - your choice.
