I have known sevral people go to Chinese Herbalists. They usually seem to get prescribed very unpleasant tasting teas. Two out of the 3 people I know ended up throwing the medicine away because they couldn't bear the taste. The third person used the tea and noticed small benefit from it.
Would I trust my diabetes care to a Chinese Herbalist, in conjunction with Western medical care?
Never in a million years.
Chinese Medicine is notorious for being badly regulated, with 'forged' meds. Herbs are very variable in efficacy - always assuming that the herbs are appropriate for the health concern, and preserved and prepared appropriately.
Just my opinion, of course.
Also, please be extremely wary of anyone making snake oil claims about 'cures'. These simply are not proven, no matter how ancient and traditional a treatment may be.
