I'm sorry to ask this as I know it has been answered before but I can't find the correct thread.
Could someone please explain cholesterol results? These were my last set and as far as I can tell they're not too bad but the HDL needs to go up a little bit. Is that right?

Serum triglycerides 1.5 mmol/L 0.4 - 1.54mmol/L

Serum cholesterol 4.1 mmol/L
Serum HDL cholesterol level 1.06 mmol/L
Serum LDL cholesterol level 2.4 mmol/L
Serum cholesterol/HDL ratio 3.9 1/1
NON-HDL CHOLESTEROL 3 mmol/L

Hi Pp, on the face of it they look good but in an ideal world would be better if your hdl was say 1.7 and your trigs about 1.0. Low carb good fats should put you on the right road to better figures. D.

Hi @purplepenguin! Your figures are good. NHS guidelines for people with diabetes recommend the following cholesterol parameters:
Total Cholesterol: Under 4.0 mmol/L
HDL levels: 0.9-1.50 mmol/L
LDL levels: Below 2.0 mmol/L
Triglyceride levels: 1.7 mmol/L or below.
Total cholesterol/HDL ratio: Less than 5

Though not all HCPs agree with the total Cholesterol target and think the individual component figures, and their ratios to each other are more important.

You can work your ratios on this calculator by entering your figures:
