Christmas...

I have just came downstairs after doing housework and noticed whilst up there that a neighbour across the road has put up her Christmas decorations already. Their window is adorned in lights and tinsel!!! I know each to their own but am I the only one who thinks it's too early?

I always put mine up the 1st December along with the kiddies advent calenders...November does sound a wee bit early
 
My kids have their advent calendars up from the 1/12 but same as you Pilgrim 22, ours aren't put up till second week of December.

I would be fed up looking at them come Xmas time if I had them up from now.

Dreading putting up the decorations this year; it will be very last minute. We've adopted a new young dog and he's into everything, chewing etc. Hate to think what he'll be like presented with a Xmas tree in the house!
 
Christmas eve mine go up, I know bah humbug, but at least I put a tree up and a few lights at the window.
 
Far too early, I was in a well known supermarket last night and they were playing Christmas music :thumbdown:

Wait until December at least!!!!
 
On my way home from work its just amazing how many people have Xmas trees and decs up its unbelievable!! They must get so fed up by the time Xmas comes I love it but I put my tree up 2nd week of December I think thats early enough. ;-)

i go a bit mad a christmas with the decorations in memory of my dad who went really mad lol but not until around the second week of dec, but i dont see the problem if folks like the pretty lights for a wee bit longer than others :) good luck to em :thumbup:
 
We live pretty rurally and I go to visit my kids every year before Christmas, usually early December. They live 4 hours away in Christchurch (that's NZ) where they sell nice trees that you cut down yourself...at least my son cuts it down for me!..I bring it back with me and up it goes so it really depends on when I get to visit the kids!

Our Christmas is mid-summer and we can't see the lights properly until about 10.30 at night but I wouldn't be without 'em! Reminds me of when I was a kid in England :D

No it's much too early.
When I was little we would come down Christmas morning and the decs has been put up when we were in bed Christmas Eve. Magical surprise!
Now it's a week before and that's plenty of time to get sick of them.
Bah Humbug indeed!!!

Know what? They do! How odd is that? I have been here 31 years but about the only things I will never get used to is a mid-summer Christmas and snow on Christmas cards. AND we have turkey too, with all the trimmings whilst the summer sun is shining outside. You should see the poor Santa's..heat stroke and then some! :wink:

Janiept, up until a couple of years ago, we used to put the decorations up and do the tree when the kids were in bed asleep so they had a nice surprise in the morning. We told them that the angels had been to put them up in the night and they thought that was great. Sadly, now their older (18, 15, 11), they know better so we've stopped saying it. Now they ask to do it all and they do a better job than us!

Many years ago now, my husband and I went on a carribean cruise for our honeymoon. The cruise ended in December and of course decorations were up in places we went to in the different countries we visited. It was very strange for us being in a hot country, wearing summer clothes and hearing Christmas songs and seeing Christmas tree's. Took us ages to get our heads round that!

Usually aim for the weekend before, but a couple of years ago, I left it til the 23rd. Dad decided to "help" coz he thought my multi tasking had got a bit complicated. He ended up smashing six bottles of red wine on the pale green living room carpet. After four bottles of white wine, two of diet lemonade, all the salt in the house and about four hours with the Vax, it was down to a slightly purple damp patch. Two years later, it's completely gone. - Oh and I put the tree up Christmas morning! :)

There's a house on my weekly flight path. It's so famous in the area that it's part of a bus tour! The entire house, garage and garden are completely covered I lights. There is a life sized illuminated nativity scene, complete with animals, set up on the drive way and a recording of choral Christmas carols plays softly in the background. Apparently all night!

Went past during the day last week and it was all set up. Don't know when the big switch on is though.
