Hey all,
Ive been T1 since the age of 7 (21 years) and since leaving school 12 years ago, my control has steadily been getting worse. Up until 3 years ago a Hba1C of 13% was considered good for me, I never tested, and was missing a lot of insulin doses (Humalog / Lantus).
In September of 2009 I was rushed to hospital with a suspected appendicitus, and after having it removed, and finding there was no problem, I have spent the last 3 years with chronic pain syndrome, and no other explanation for the pain. Ive had various tests performed with no conclusive results, and being ill this long has had other affects on my mind and body. Peripheral neuropathy in my lower legs and hands, as well as insomnia / hypersomnia, fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, and depression.
Ive had my GP, hospital gastro consultants and my Diabetic consultants all run tests of various types, with no diagnosis, but I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
On the plus side of being ill, I am now testing regularly, and not missing any insulin doses. My Hba1C is also down to around 8%. So its not all doom and gloom.
