I sometimes buy supplements from Healthspan. I was thinking of buying their cinnamon 1000mg tablets, but I noticed maltodextrin in the list of ingredients. I enquired about the carb content. The girl on the telephone was rather dismissive, but she passed my query on and today I got a reply by email.
"Thank you for your recent enquiry.
We can confirm that Healthspan's Cinnamon contains 287mg of carbohydrate per tablet.
If you have any further questions please contact us.
Kind regards

If I have done my sums correctly, each tablet contains more than a quarter gram of carb, which is not insignificant for something one would take daily. Unfortunately the email gave no breakdown so I still don't know how many of the carbs are maltodextrin and how many are inherent in cinnamon powder. I have a packet of cinnamon powder but there is no table of contents. Presumably the law does not require this for spices. Looking again at the tablet ingredients, I don't think I'd want to buy them anyway:
Ingredients
Bulking Agent: Maltodextrin, Cinnamon Extract, Bulking Agent: Microcrystalline Cellulose, Magnesium Stearate, Anti-Caking Agent: Silicon Dioxide, Coating (Hypromellose, Glycerin).
