People who are touchy.......feign indignation at the slightest thing. Hypocrites, bullies and cowards.
http://www.bbc.co.uk

Although we have told you before exactly what you need to do, Once more:

1. Do not use the url feature.

2.Go to the website where you want to post a clickable link from.

3.Highlight the address bar details and copy.

4. Paste the details into your post as I have done here.

5. That will then show both in preview and when submitted as a fully clickable link.

Hope that clears things up for you....... :)

What I do is copy the url (by highlighting and copying the address, in this case http://www.bbc.co.uk/ ).

I then hit the URL button above just above the reply window, and paste the copied address into the flashing cursor position (between the 2 urls in square brackets).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/

Edit, it seems that they both work. Are you using Firefox, or a similar non Internet Explorer browser, by any chance Bracwol?

I fail to see how helping a member to copy and paste a clickable link on this board can be considered rude, and yes I am aware I am a Moderator. Both the Senior Moderator and myself have told you how to do this, twice now. This appears to be a problem that you have as a user and nothing to do with the Forum settings.

Unless you have interfered with the standard settings of the board you should have no problems in posting the link, as I did by just copying and pasting your link. There are no differences with Moderator settings or member settings.

The standard settings are:
BBCode is ON
is ON
[flash] is OFF
[url] is ON
Smilies are ON

If you still have problems contact the Administrator for further advice.

I use Firefox, have all the board defaults set at yes and do not have a problem copying and pasting a click-able link.

Neither I nor the Senior Moderator need to use the url feature, neither do many other members.
Copy and Paste is a simple method requiring only three mouse clicks. I hate wearing my fingers out !

Use either method that works for you. I suggest that you update Firefox to V.3.5.7.....this may help ?

I can assure you that neither I nor the Senior Moderator have adjusted anything, we do not have the facility. As this afternoon certain works have been taking place it may well be you were affected by that. We have only just found out about this ourselves. :)

This is a question from an ignorant beginner. I can see how to post a clickable link - if I understand correctly it becomes clickable automatically when you press submit. But how do you make an unclickable link? Thanks for help!

Easiest way is to make the clickable link then delete the http// www. from it, when you submit it should be unclickable.

Surely if it's unclickable .. it isn't a link.

Not so. There is more than one category of link.

A link can be 'clickable' where it will automatically take you to the web address shown when it is clicked on.

A link can also be 'unclickable', you just have to copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser and it will then take you to the web address.

It is still a link whichever method you use. You will get to the same place.
