I’m due to go on a closed loop pump and have been asked to choose which I prefer from mylife YpsoPump or Medtronic. Is anyone using the MyLife YpsoPump? Is it easy to use ? What are the pros and cons?

As far as I’m aware..

Ypsomed only works on android not iPhone

The ypsomed also only has a 180u cartridge where the Medtronic has a 300u cartridge

The Medtronic can have extended wear canula 7 day wear

I believe that camaps is what runs the ypso so would need to carry the phone with you

Medtronic is stand alone

My understanding is people using both these pumps are in general happy.. for me the cartridge size was a factor in my decision

That’s useful to know thank you.

I has recently came to my yr time with Ypsomed , I would have gone onto closed loop with Ypsomed but I had upgrade to iPhone and didn’t really want to carry android phone . I loved the Ypsomed , easy to use , lightweight and software was good . So on Medtronic [emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]] with Simplera sensors and very happy although the pump is bigger and heavier it is a small compromise for me .

That’s interesting you didn’t go with the Ypsomed. I agree having two phones is a pain but with Medtronic you have to use the pump to give the bolus. How you coping that?

Using the pump is easy enough.. and if you are out and don’t want to be seen using the pump you can just allow smart guard to deal with it

What is smart guard ? Not familiar with Medtronic closed loop

Smart guard is the automated system on it that corrects as your bg rises and lowers

Tandem has similar (but not as good) called control iq

Why do you think it's not as good?

Because I’ve had both

The tandem works only on programming if rates.. Medtronic learns

Tandem issues corrections hourly Medtronic every 5 minutes

Medtronic has adjustable target tandem does not

Medtronic has been substantially better at controlling my bg
