Two nurses visit next door to care for an old man.
Yesterday, one was wearing a jumper with a CND symbol about 30 cm diameter.
I said "I see you are concerned about nuclear disarmament."
She, "We're caring for the old man."
I, "I know, but that symbol on your sweater is the flag signal ND for Nuclear Disarmament."
She, "Is it?"
I, "In the 50s &60s, everyone was wearing that badge."
She, "I didn't know what it was."
I didn't ask for a photo - they were Muslims with head scarves.

I suppose you could look at it from a different angle and be glad that today's youth do not live under the fear of a nuclear war so have no need to know the symbols meaning, I remember in the late 70s having many a sleepless night as a teenager worrying about the bomb - remember the government leaflets we used to get through the door telling us what to do in the event of an attack ( like whitewashing the windows!)

I have to say though Ian what the last sentence in your post has to do with it I really don't know!

Lovinglife, I would imagine that ian, with a sensitivity, was alluding that some young muslim women are shy about having their photos taken.

Thanks fergus if that's the case then that makes sense - can be difficult sometimes with only the written word :)
