Why? I need to talk to the surgeon as I haven't even seen him yet

The consltant may be able to move you up the list for the appointment if he knows how bad and difficult you are finding it to cope with the pain. They may get somebody that cancels an appointment and be able to slot you in.

It maybe that nothing happens, but without trying you'll never know.
