Codefree not liking my new low levels!

My SD Codefree does not appear to like my new 6.0 and below levels.

I have never usually had a problem with m codefree, when my numbers were 6.4-7+ it was comparable to my Aviva meter. Now for the last few days whilst my levels have been 5.0-5.9-6.0 my codefree is showing very high readings. So I tested my levels at the same time, same finger, same blood sample as I was curious (I know you should not but needs must) results are:

This morning was 5.9. Which is on par with the last few days.

2 hours after breakfast:

SD Codefree = 7.5
Aviva = 6.6
Freestyle Lite = 6.3

Before lunch:

SD Codefree = 7.2
Aviva = 6.1
Freestyle Lite = 5.4

I have not been anywhere 7.5 since Saturday after lunch (chips) and as you know last few days below 6.0 with codefree and Aviva swap over. Thisis the first time I have used the Freestyle (was in cupboard). Did my codefree get jealous I was using my Aviva for a while? :lol:
I can accept I have gone up to just over 6.0 for readings, but not near 7.0 and over. My diet and things have not changed.

What do you guys n gals think?
 
Since I have got my levels down to below 6 I have been in the same boat and although the higher reading have messed up my nice charts I have just had to accept that for now I will just have to disregard the actual levels shown and concentrate on the difference between pre & post meal readings. There have been other members having the same problem so I am happy that it is not my control slipping and I just hope that future batches of SD strips return to the lower range of the acceptable accuracy scale.

I find that my readings are around 1.0 higher than expected when compared to exactly the same meal results a few weeks ago. I have queried the strips with the suppliers but just got the "within accepted tolerances" standard reply. I was also informed that other users were reporting that the strips were reading low, which I find hard to believe. Maybe if you could contact Homehealth UK to reinforce that the strips are reading high it may just prompt a different response, though I wouldn't hold my breath :(

I would use the freestyle lite :thumbup:
 
+2 after lunch of 2 boiled eggs with a green salad and glass of water.

SD Codefree 6.5
Caresens N 5.3

The 5.3 is very close +/- .2 to what I have had several times with the same meal. The 6.5 result is still only .2 above my pre-meal reading of 6.3 though so I am satisfied that the actual content of the meal is still fine. I just wish I didn't have to wait until September to see what is happening with my HbA1c as I shall be gutted if all this hard work has failed to reduce my original test result obtained at diagnosis.

Sorry to anyone reading this who thinks I am being a tad anal for complaining about getting results they consider to be OK but it matters to me.

That was my thinking, but they are Around £20 for 50 not £5 like the code free, but you get what you pay for comes into effect though... I got a few strips with freestyle when new so may use it for a day or 2 to see what it's like. Freestyle strips are still cheaper than Aviva and I get free strips from GP so I could change them, I still buy my own as I only get 50 a pop, but they are on repeat. And I like to test daily.

I agree with you, and as its in the really good results % I hate it when it goes higher than what I like. I prefer to be 6.6 maximum.
 
I also test frequently at the moment and, as I don't get strips on prescription, am stuck with the SD Codefree as I just don't have the available funds at the moment to buy the more costly strips for any other meter. Once I have used up my stock of SD strips I will have to decide whether my control is good enough to drastically reduce testing and swap over to another meter .

I am gonna test using freestyle till used up and then Aviva, random test against code free just to see, as I want a reliable meter, if this works out not to be the code free I will have 100+ strips available! (just purchased 150) :roll:
 
:D I just got 200 hoping that a new batch was out but they were still the batch no S0312006 that has been giving me high results.

As I still had 200 left to begin with I am now swamped with the dang things. I have been offering tests to anyone who comes to the house to get rid of them, the strips not the people, but I think I had better stop as the Postman now looks at me kind of funny and even the cat runs away when he sees my testing kit. :lol:

lol, I got about 125 Code free strips left, 7 Freestyle strips and about 40 aviva ones.

I am begining to think the codefree has always been a bit high, after dinner the freestyle was 5.1 and aviva was 6.0. I am going to find some more freestyle strips to use, I like the freestyle its small and the strips need the smallest of blood sample, Worried about getting my prescription changed though as I may get my free ones taken away as I get a repeat automatically now and dont want it checked out and they audit me/it :(

Someone in the past has quoted the costs of goods to the NHS. Maybe if we could find out which is the cheaper between the Freestyle and the Aviva, then maybe a swap to Freestyle strips would save them money so they may agree. Could be worth finding out. I did think about asking my nurse at one time but wasn't sure whether she would know.
Just a thought.

I found the list, the freestyle lite ones are 46p cheaper than the Aviva ones, both under £15 wholesale.
 
You lot going on about codefree - whatever they are- made me smile as I find the Freestyle lite which I get on prescription so unreliable batch by batch that I always now test the old batch and the new batch using the same blob of blood when I am about to change over. For instance yesterday it 4.7(old)/5.1(new) and today 5.2(old)/5.4(new) . So at least I know I will be a bit higher with my new batch of strips!! Up to 0.5 I am not bothered but when it gets to a whole 1.0 difference I get really annoyed. I have phoned the company in the past - they send me their control solutions = and naturally the strips are within their levels. I think it is digusting that a 20% error is acceptable!! But then I have moaned about this before on the forums!!!! I daren't even ask for a Hb1Ac because I don't want the doctor's surgery to realise that I am still gettting a tub of 50 strips on prescription monthly because as a type 2 controlling on a low GI/low carb diet and exercise I don't think I am now entitled to them. They were prescribed by a since retired doctor 6 years ago. I have my blood sugar pretty well controlled except when I get the flu or a cold and then there is nothing to do but wait up to 10 days for it to go down again!!
