Hi,

I'm wondering does the cold weather affect diabetes? Such as blood sugars?

Also does anyone else suffer with cold feet I always have cold feet at night even if the rooms warm etc. I can't sleep with socks on lol :)

Don't worry your feet can't be that cold if you can't sleep with socks on. If they were truly cold you'd wear them.

I can't sleep with socks on either, it just feels wrong! Having socks on doesn't help anyway, they'd just be cold in the socks. The only cure for this is a hot water bottle, wouldn't be without mine! I tend to find I need a little more insulin in the winter and a little less in the summer.

Thank you gpad for your feedback glad you understand about the socks! I get far to hot with socks on as I suffer with night sweats as well. Can't win haha.

It doesn't effect my sugars but I do find it difficult to blood out once I finger prick! Always have cold feet and I can't sleep with socks on either but my hot water bottle is great :)

Feet are always cold and hands, and that is with the central heating on all the time.:coldfeet::coldfeet:

My big toes are freezing right now... I wish I could get foot sized electric blanket. I have a thick blanket over and under my feet which helps. though I do have to take my slippers off when the toes are cold!

Cold feet here too! Hot water bottles needed at night. I also struggle to get enough blood for a glucose test if my hands are cold so i wash them under a warm tap first. Insulin jabs sting a little if they are cold too!

The one thing I miss about not being married anymore is not having a nice warm body to put my cod feet on

I understand that cold weather raises your BGL.

I get really cold feet. Us diabetics do tend to suffer with circulation issues like that I believe.

I'm no expert so please correct me if you know more!

Just ordered an electric foot cushion... hope it works!

I've started wearing Emu or Ugg boots (for the last few winters) - and haven't had cold feet since.

Mr B (my personal foot warmer) is profoundly grateful.

OK..I have to ask...what is the creature on your shoulder... is it a ratty? :) @Damonite

Cold feet also, up to calfs. Unable to use hot water bottle due to neuropathy - was one of the first things I was told. But, when it's icy outside, I do warm the bed with hwb, but have to feel around the bottom of bed to check with my hands that it's safe!

I use my electric blanket for my cold feet I even did it during the summer months when it reached 50degrees c. I am very lucky my place is easy to keep warm. If my feet get cold in an evening when I am watching the box they go on my dog he is always warm and never swears at me.

@ellagy - have a look here! Some lovely foot warmers https://www.amazon.co.uk/Best-Sellers-Health-Personal-Care-Foot-Warmers/zgbs/drugstore/3360469031 not too expensive and some for both feet or some separate feet.

Best wishes for survival through the winter ;)
