Hi
The Contour XT is the latest Blood Sugar testing device made by Beyer Pharmaceuticals, and is a good meter and Beyer claim it to be very accurate.
Other suppliers such as Roche make the Accu-Check range, and they also make claims to accuracy.
You must remember that whatever type of machine you use, it will possibly not give you a completely true reading. The reading you get could be out by 10 or 15%.
As long as you use the same meter it will give you a check, on were your sugar is from time to time.
To get an accurate sugar(Blood Glucose) figure you normally have a fasting Blood test, that gives you the sugar amount at that time.
The most accurate is to have a HbA1c blood test, this gives you an average figure of what your Blood Glucose level has been over the last 10 to 12 weeks.
Hope this answers your question, but come back if you want to know anything else
