Ok I need some advice from you guys.
I have an adorable 3 year old. Prior to having her I had a miscarriage at 9weeks. It took a yr to conceive my 3 year old. I have been trying for a 2nd child for the past 2years and nothing has happened. Had myself checked by the docs and its all good to go. My partner the same. My bloods are good. I just don't get why nothing has happened. Thinking of IVF but scared as I hear its very intrusive. Would like to see a hypnotist to fool my Brain into letting the specialists fiddle with me bits to make a baby, but don't know 1. I'm pushing 40next year and its getting to me. Any ideas anyone?

It might get expensive too! Seriously, it can take a year for a young healthy couple to conceive. You and your husband know that you are a fertile pair. If you are not conceiving there is probably a reason the medicos have not understood yet.
Enjoy your daughter and try not to let your desire for anther child make you unhappy. Whether you go down the medical aid route or not, what matters is the happy family you already have.

i know what you say is true spendercat, its just when i look at her i feel guilty in some way cos shes always playing make believe with her "sister or brother" and i just so wish lightening could strike twice! hmmm i know stressing does not help, but my clock is ticking at a pace in my head im like argggh!

Could you have Pcos? Its linked to type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance. Your GP may be able to diagnose, but you may need a scan which they won't always refer you for. However if you really want to know you could pay for one privately I think they are in the region of about £120. They can scan your ovaries and your reproductive area, and tell you if the ovaries are polycystic.

I understand what you mean about wanting another child but the one you have is so precious, I have only been diagnosed type 1 diabetic for a year but when I was 19 I was told that I had gone through a premature menopause and that I would not be able to have children. Luckily I have an incredible sister and a very understanding husband. My sister donated eggs and I was blessed with a baby girl who is now 2 and a half. She is my miracle. IVF can be a daunting prospect but it worked for me. Make sure you enjoy every moment with your little one. If you do decide to go down the IVF route and you have any questions I'm happy to help our even if you just want to talk I know how hard it is.

Noracie, can I ask whether you were diagnosed with diabetes before or after your daughter? Sorry its a very selfish question, I've recently had a miscarriage and my head is still abit messed up and want to reassure myself that it will be fine in the future.....

hi toots, i have been a card carrying diabetic, for 15years, :) i was diagnosed before i got pregnant. my thoughts are with you with regards to your miscarriage, but know that it gets better, you must have courage to continue with your plans and it will be well it just has to :)

Poor Toots. I had two miscarriages before I got my beautiful girls. No explanation, doctors just said that at least one in every five pregnancies end that way, so keep trying, and they were right :)
Then I got GD in my third pregnency, and that one was fine. So don't worry about your diabetes, just take care what you eat and keep the BGs at a good normal level as at present.

Noracie, to be frank my second daughter was conceived when I was 36, three and a half years after my first and by accident (!), so perhaps our bodies need longer to recover and prepare for a subsequent pregnancy because of our condition?
