Hi
So I have to tell you guys the truth as it’s been bothering me.
I was diagnosed with pre diabetes in 2015 but doctor thought that I was taking Metformin that she had prescribed for PCOS (I wasn’t)
During the following year I had a few more tests all below 6.6.
After almost a year without a period (PCOS related)I started back on the Metformin on and off as I couldn’t stomach it everyday, I had another test and I was now 9.0 so I stopped the Metformin and levels went down to 7 something.
In Dec after two exotic holidays and a lot of stress, I ended up in hospital with levels in the teens so I went back on Metformin. I started with 500mg and worked up to 1g at this point my results were 10.0 so I decided to go the full 2g daily, my results are now 10.7.
I am eating better now than I was before. I cook for myself and have stopped stuffing haribos down my mouth.
The question is why is Metformin not working for me? Why am I better off according you HBaC1 results when not taking it? My meter has even had me down as average 8.0 and I testing 7 times a day on most days.
Also as a sickle cell trait patient dies this affect my result.
Thanks
NC
